During the COVID-19 pandemic, Anthony began working at MOM’s Organic Market, a grocery store beloved by its customers and praised for caring about its workers.
While the public was championing him as an “essential worker,” he soon became disillusioned. Customers were unhinged, his coworkers were severely burned out, and the store’s management prioritized the bottom line at the expense of team morale.
For two years, Anthony wrote everything down. Unmasked, a memoir told through interconnected vignettes, details the untold experiences of grocery store workers. The book reveals pervasive loneliness and despair, genuine joy, beauty in the mundane, fears fueled by entrenched biases, and moments of startling connection. It will forever change the way you see the people behind the register.
Anthony is currently seeking a literary agent to represent him for Unmasked. If you are a literary agent or know of a literary agent that might be interested, please reach out.
