Anthony started work in a grocery store in March 2020, just as the pandemic created shopping panic. During every shift for over two years, he felt the impact of a stressful environment that did little to support worker health or nourish co-worker relationships. Always on the verge of quitting, he started thinking about how things could be done differently.
What if we reimagined work, carving out intentional time and space during the workday to build social support and belonging? This idea, of advancing social connection in the workplace, began with a fifteen-minute culture-building meeting and turned into a year-long pilot program that cut absenteeism in half and started a culture of care.
From that experience, Anthony has since trained thousands of nonprofit, public education, government, philanthropy, university, and corporate leaders in workplace mental health programs that he designed and developed. His nonprofit, Evolving Minds, builds and advocates for healthy work cultures where workers are seen and valued as whole people.
